Put in the wrong fuel in Düsseldorf? Mobile fuel drain service 24/7

put in the wrong fuel in Düsseldorf or the Bergisches Land?

At a glance: Our Düsseldorf location (Nosthoffenstraße 3, 40589 Düsseldorf) can be reached around the clock. We come to the filling station, the roadside or the car park and pump out the wrong fuel on site – within the city usually in 15 to 35 minutes. Pumping out costs from €95 incl. VAT; including call-out and disposal it usually comes to around €300, never more than €600. We give you the binding fixed price over the phone before we set off. We handle every call-out ourselves – we never pass jobs on to other companies. Leave the engine off and call: 0177 3555403.

Wrong fuel in Düsseldorf: what to do now

  1. Leave the engine off – and the ignition too. If you notice at the pump in Düsseldorf that you have put the wrong fuel in the tank, do not start the engine and do not switch on the ignition. In many vehicles the fuel pump already runs when the ignition is switched on, in some even when the driver's door is opened – so keep the doors closed if you can.
  2. Already driving? Stop safely at once. Jerking, loss of power or a warning light are typical signs. Stop as soon as it is safe to do so and switch off the engine. If you keep driving until the engine cuts out, you make the damage worse.
  3. Secure the vehicle. At the filling station the staff will usually help you push the car away from the pump. On the A46 or A52: hazard lights on, put on your high-visibility vest and get behind the crash barrier.
  4. Call us or send a WhatsApp message. Tell us where you are in Düsseldorf (filling station, street or motorway junction), the vehicle, what and how much you filled up with, how much was in the tank before and whether the engine was running. We will tell you the fixed price and when we will be there straight away.
  5. Don't have it towed straight away – and never pump it out yourself. In most cases we pump out directly on site, at the filling station, the roadside or in the car park. That is usually quicker and cheaper than towing and a garage. Pumping it out yourself is out of the question because of the risk of explosion.

Wrong fuel in Düsseldorf: what happens next

Whether at a filling station in Düsseldorf or on the motorway: what we do on site depends on what was put in the tank and whether the engine was already running. The most important cases in brief.

Wrong fuel, engine not started

The best case. As long as neither the engine has been started nor the ignition switched on, the wrong fuel is only in the tank. Then emptying the tank completely and flushing it is enough – usually you can carry on straight afterwards.

Wrong fuel, engine started, not driven

As soon as the ignition is on, the electric fuel pump pushes the wrong fuel towards the engine. Switch the engine off again immediately. We then not only empty the tank but also flush the lines up to the engine.

Wrong fuel, engine started and driven

Now the entire fuel mixture has to come out of the tank, lines, filter and injection system. If necessary we clean up to the high-pressure pump, check the components, read out the fault memory and reset it. The shorter the distance driven, the better the chances for the engine.

Diesel in a petrol car

This happens less often because the diesel nozzle is thicker – but it does happen. The engine often still starts on the remaining petrol and cuts out as soon as the diesel arrives. Spark plugs, ignition coil, lambda sensor, catalytic converter and engine control unit are at risk. Petrol engines usually cope with misfuelling better than diesel engines, but still: do not keep driving. More information: Diesel instead of petrol.

Petrol in a diesel

The most common and most critical case. Petrol washes away the lubricating film that the high-pressure pump of modern diesel engines (common rail and unit injector, from 1999 onwards) needs. Metal shavings can form and damage the injectors and lines – even small amounts cause damage, in winter too. So: do not start the engine, leave the fuel cap open so that no pressure builds up in the tank, and call us. More information: Petrol instead of diesel.

AdBlue in the diesel tank

AdBlue is not a fuel but a urea solution. In the diesel tank it forms a slimy mass that clogs lines, filters and injectors, and it can crystallise in the system. If the ignition was not switched on, pumping out and thoroughly cleaning the tank is usually enough. If the engine was already running, we clean the entire system; filters and lines often have to be replaced as well. More information: AdBlue instead of diesel.

Diesel in the AdBlue tank

Diesel – just like petrol, screen wash or antifreeze – in the AdBlue tank damages the exhaust after-treatment. The AdBlue tank, dosing pump, dosing valve, NOx sensor and catalytic converter are at risk. Do not start the engine or switch on the ignition: we drain and clean the AdBlue system on site. More information: Diesel instead of AdBlue.

What is typical in Düsseldorf

Many call-outs involve vans and company vehicles such as the Sprinter, Renault Master and Kangoo. Three of the 15 call-outs within the city were late in the evening after 9 pm. If you don't start the engine at all, pumping out and flushing is usually enough. If you have already driven, cleaning up to the high-pressure pump is usually needed.

How much does pumping out cost in Düsseldorf?

Pumping out on site starts at €95 incl. VAT. Including call-out and disposal, a job usually costs around €300 and never more than €600. The price depends on where the vehicle is, what kind of vehicle it is and how many litres are in the tank, because the wrong fuel has to be disposed of in an environmentally sound way. We give you the binding fixed price over the phone before we set off. Even at night and at weekends the maximum stays at €600 – the surcharge of no more than €20 is included. More on our costs page.

Frequently asked questions from Düsseldorf

How quickly can you get to me?
Within the city of Düsseldorf we are usually with you in 15 to 35 minutes. We tell you the exact time over the phone.
Do you also come onto the motorway or into an underground car park?
Yes, we work wherever your vehicle is. On the motorway, please secure the vehicle first and set up the warning triangle.
I've already driven off – what now?
Stop immediately and switch off the engine. The sooner you do, the more likely it is that pumping out and flushing will be enough instead of cleaning up to the high-pressure pump.
Can I also send a WhatsApp message?
Yes. Send us your location, the vehicle and what you filled up with to 0177 3555403. At night the quickest way to reach us is by phone.
